Walt Disney Animation Studios released the first trailer for “Moana 2” today, revealing a new adventure for the beloved Polynesian princess. Auli’i Cravalho reprises her role as Moana, joined again by Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui.
The trailer opens with Moana on a beach, gazing out at the ocean. “The ocean is calling them back,” a voiceover intones. We then see glimpses of Moana sailing with a new crew on a perilous journey.
According to a Disney press release, “Moana 2” follows Moana as she answers “an unexpected call from her ancestors” and sails into “dangerous, long-lost waters.”
The film also features the return of fan favourites Heihei, the dimwitted chicken, and Pua, Moana’s pet pig.
“Moana 2” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27, 2024.
