A gas cylinder explosion in Karachi’s New Challi area on Tuesday resulted in at least one death and six injuries.
The incident occurred in a shop within the generator market. The explosion not only caused a fire but also blew the contents of the shop onto the street.
Rescue teams, arriving swiftly at the scene, confirmed the casualties.
SSP City reported that the explosion caused the shop’s roof to collapse. A search operation is in progress following reports that one individual might still be trapped under the debris.
Authorities have enlisted the bomb disposal squad to aid in further investigation.
This event underscores the ongoing risks associated with gas cylinders, frequently used commercially and domestically. Explosions can result from various factors, including using low-quality cylinders and non-compliance with standard operating procedures during refilling.
