Prior to the release of season 4, David Harbour is preparing to film the fifth and final season of the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Since its announcement in early August, the creators and the rest of the show’s writers have been diligently developing season 5. Filming is scheduled to begin somewhere in 2023.
In an interview with Collider about the upcoming Christmas thriller Violent Night, the Stranger Things actor David Harbour discussed the imminent filming of the series’ final episodes.
“It will be my final farewell to Jim Hopper, which is a significant matter,” Harbour told Collider. Fortunately, I have a lot of time to say my goodbyes because I anticipate that filming these episodes will take a long time.”
In the science fiction series, Harbour portrays Jim Hopper, a former police chief who has returned from the dead.
The 47-year-old actor continued stating that he hopes viewers will like the Stranger Things series finale.
“I am aware that the Duffer brothers are particular, and I am aware that they want that last season. If you look at Season 4, I have a hunch that Season 5 will not be as long, but it will be jam-packed with content you will like. I mean, they’re getting much better at hitting those home runs that the crowds adore. And I believe Season 5 will do so significantly.”
While keeping the narrative a well-guarded secret, Harbour expressed his enthusiasm about playing Hopper one last time, stating, “I’m going to put my heart and soul into it.”
He continued by stating that portraying Hopper on Stranger Things was “in many ways the part of a lifetime.”
According to Harbour, the series will once again film in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2019.
The first four seasons of Stranger Things are currently available on Netflix.
