Cyclone Asna has caused numerous flight delays at Karachi Airport, affecting domestic and international routes.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced a delay of over seven hours for flight PK-308, heading to Islamabad, and a four-hour delay for its return trip, PK-309. Additionally, the Karachi to Multan flight has faced a similar delay of four hours.
Private international flights have not been spared, with a significant eight-hour delay affecting a Karachi to Jeddah flight operated by a private airline.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority sources attribute these disruptions directly to the adverse weather sweeping across the region.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has reported that Cyclone Asna, initially spotted over India’s Rann of Kutch, has intensified and moved closer to Karachi, currently positioned about 170km south/southeast of the city, and is expected to provoke widespread severe weather, including heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across multiple districts in Sindh and Balochistan until the end of August, contributing further to travel disruptions.
