Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari has asked a high court for forgiveness for the medical certificate he presented to explain his absence from the last hearing of petitions against the PTI’s sit-in protest.
Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf of the Lahore High Court (LHC) presided over.
Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi Captain (retired) Shoaib, CPO Bukhari, and other city authorities were present during the hearing.
During the hearing, Justice Mirza strongly objected to the medical report presented by CPO Rawalpindi Bukhari for missing the previous hearing.
The court stated, “If CPO Rawalpindi continues to stand by his medical report, disciplinary action will be taken against him.”
The medical report in no way justifies his failure to appear in court. The judge inquired once more whether the CPO stood by the medical report submitted to the court.
Having no other option, the Rawalpindi chief of police apologized twice before the court.
The court also demanded to know where the DIG Motorway Lahore was when demonstrators stopped the motorway.
“Will you watch the show if 10 individuals block the Motorway? “It appears that Motorway Police supplies demonstrators with the procedure,” Justice Mirza stated, adding, “Motorway is a national roadway, and when necessary, even fighter planes land there.”
Justice Mirza called the Rawalpindi commissioner to the next hearing and requested a report on the PTI’s demonstrations and sit-ins from the director general of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the inspector general of highways, and the additional home secretary.
In addition, the court ordered the IB director general to describe the scenario following the protests in his report and ordered the Rawalpindi chief police officer and deputy commissioner to ensure that protesters do not cause any inconveniences for civilians.
The hearing was postponed until November 23.
