The court ordered the freezing of 22 bank accounts and 10 billion rupees worth of land belonging to Rasikh Elahi, the son of former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi.
The assets of Moonis Elahi’s wife, Qaiser Bhatti and Abid Bhatti, were also ordered frozen by the court.
As the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigation continued, the court also ordered the seizure of 17,420 kanals of land worth Rs 10 billion and 22 bank accounts from which Rs 3.5 billion were transferred.
Sources claim that benami bank accounts and businesses were used to transfer funds obtained through corruption.
According to reports, the Chaudhary family amassed billion-dollar properties through corruption during the prior administration, and the 2010 Anti-Money Laundering Act froze them.
Based on the FIA’s request and compelling evidence, the court froze all assets, including real estate and bank accounts. These properties and bank accounts will remain frozen until the money laundering investigation against each defendant has been concluded.
