An accountability court earlier today extended the remand of two suspects in the Mushtaq Raisani corruption case.

According to details, contractor Sohail Majeed and executive engineer Tariq Ali’s remand was extended by the court for fourteen days each. Justice Majeed Nasir presided over the hearing of the case in which NAB authorities requested the court to extend the suspects’ remand to fourteen additional days, which was granted.

Both suspects had also been earlier under the custody of NAB and their remands had been extended by the court. The court handed over Sohail Majeed and Tariq Ali to NAB and postponed judicial proceedings till June 30.

Both Sohail Majeed and Tariq Ali have been charged with facilitating Mushtaq Raisani in committing financial embezzlement and corruption.

Mushtaq Raisani, former Balochistan Secretary Finance, was arrested by NAB officials a month back. Rs 730 million were recovered from Raisani’s residence in the form of local and foreign currency.
