In an inspiring event, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah hosted 22 children from the Karachi Down Syndrome Programme (KDSP) at the Chief Minister’s House. The invitation aimed to motivate the children and provide a memorable experience.
Accompanied by KDSP Co-founder and CEO Tabish Shehzad, the children received a warm welcome from the CM. During a tour, Shah informed them that the CM House is over 100 years old.
Murad Ali Shah engaged in light-hearted conversations with the children, asking, “Who among you wants to become a CM?” Eagerly, most children raised their hands, revealing their aspirations. Notably, Baby Dua expressed her ambition to become the Chief Minister.
CM Shah allowed each child to sit in his chair while he joined them to honour their dreams. The children also explored the CM House gallery, viewing portraits of past Chief Ministers. The highlight was when baby Dua, as the “CM of the Day,” presided over a mock meeting in the conference hall, starting with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem.
The event concluded with the children taking photos in the CM’s chair and receiving gifts. As they departed, Shah expressed his appreciation, hopeful their laughter would resonate in the CM House for a long time.
The visit underscored the importance of inclusivity and the empowerment of children with special needs to dream big.
CM Shah later reaffirmed his commitment to inclusivity during a visit to Clifton Park for the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The event included a talent show and exhibition highlighting the abilities and creativity of differently abled individuals. Shah remarked, “This day reminds us of the strength, resilience, and contributions of persons with disabilities.”
