The Punjab government has energized students across the region by announcing free laptop distributions under the ‘CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025’. Aimed at fostering educational advancement, this initiative promises to equip 50,000 deserving students with the latest laptops at no cost.
Eligibility for the scheme extends to high-achieving students across various educational levels, including those in universities, colleges, and technical institutions. Specifically, the distribution will allocate laptops to:
- 20,000 university students
- 14,000 college students
- 4,000 students from technical and agricultural colleges
- 2,000 from medical and dental colleges
A notable inclusion in the scheme is the provision of laptops to 2,000 minority students and top performers in secondary and higher secondary exams, which supports the government’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in education.
The devices earmarked for distribution feature cutting-edge technology, including Core i7 processors and the latest 13th-generation chipsets. These high-spec laptops are selected to aid in research and advanced learning in various disciplines, including computer science, medicine, engineering, and more.

Unlike typical schemes, there is no direct online application process for the ‘CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025’. Instead, educational institutions are tasked with compiling and validating the data of eligible students, which is then forwarded to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Punjab for final selection.
Distribution is set to commence after Ramadan 2025, with registrations opening in February 2025. As Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz confirmed, the laptop handover is expected to start around April or May 2025, following the first batch of laptops in Pakistan.
