One gangster was killed while two others sustained injuries in an exchange of fire between the police and a gang in the Lyari area of Karachi early morning today.
The clash took place in the Musa Lane and Baghdadi areas of Lyari.
The police received information about the presence of gangsters belonging to the Sheraz Comrade group. When the police reached the sites, the suspects opened fire at the police. In retaliatory firing, one gangster was killed while two others were injured critically.
The deceased was identified as Ghaffar Niazi who is one of the main commanders of the Sheraz Comrade gang. The police has confirmed the casualties.
According to the police, Niazi was involved in several cases of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping for ransom.
The exchange of fire is still ongoing and the gangsters are putting up heavy resistance and additional contingents of the police has been called in.
