A confrontation between Pakistani security forces and the Afghan Taliban near the Kurram district border led to eight Afghan soldiers’ deaths, including two key commanders, and wounded at least 16.
The conflict began when the Afghan side targeted a Pakistani checkpoint with heavy artillery in the Palosin area along the Pak-Afghan border on Saturday morning.
Sources reported significant casualties among the Afghan Taliban, with eight fatalities and 16 injuries resulting from Pakistani forces’ counterfire. The deceased included commanders Khalil and Jan Muhammad.
As of the latest updates, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had not commented on the incident.
Historically, Afghan troops have repeatedly attacked Pakistani border posts, prompting Pakistan to express its concerns to Kabul, sources noted. They alleged that the Afghan Taliban also facilitated militant activities across the border.
