Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has stated he was unaware of a review petition concerning the decision on the bat symbol case, prompting him to request further details from his office.
The matter came to light during a court session when attorney Faisal Siddiqui referenced the pending review petition while Chief Justice Isa discussed clarifications related to the case from January 13. Surprised by the mention of a review, Chief Justice Isa admitted his lack of knowledge about any such petition being filed, highlighting a communication gap.
This revelation occurred as Hamid Khan, present during the discussion, confirmed that the review petition had indeed been filed and was previously acknowledged by Justice Athar Minallah in an earlier session. Justice Minallah had reminded the court that the matter was pending and advised against discussing it further.
Furthermore, it was noted that the Supreme Court had even corresponded with the British High Commissioner during the period the review was pending, indicating official recognition of the ongoing judicial process.
This situation underscores an unusual scenario where the court, typically reserved in its commentary on pending matters, finds itself actively engaged in discussions, leading to a noteworthy deviation from standard judicial proceedings.
