Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, deposited “Bab-e-Kaaba” to the Toshakhana, a state-managed repository for valuable gifts received by public officials.
“Bab-e-Kaaba” was bestowed upon by Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa, the Secretary of the Muslim World League, during a meeting last month.
The Muslim World League, headquartered in Makkah, is a prominent international non-governmental organization with members from various Islamic countries and sects. Its activities centre on promoting Islamic teachings and fostering unity among Muslims worldwide.
Upon receiving the pen, Chief Justice Isa, with the endorsement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, initiated the process to have the pen displayed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan museum, signifying its importance not just as a gift but as a cultural artefact.
The procedural formalities for this placement were completed through official correspondence between the Justice’s secretary and the Division’s secretary, ensuring the item’s inclusion in the national heritage display.
Established in 1974, the Toshakhana functions under the administrative control of the Cabinet Division. It acts as a custodian for various prestigious items presented to government officials by foreign dignitaries and heads of state. These gifts range from high-security vehicles and gold-plated artefacts to luxurious timepieces and art pieces, each symbolizing gestures of goodwill and fostering international relations.
