Captain America beat back box office opponents for the third consecutive week. The Marvel superhero film “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” raked in another $26.6 million this weekend, according to studio estimates.
The comic book hero fought off another sequel, “Rio 2,” Fox’s animated jungle story, which earned $22.5 million its second weekend in theaters. The religious drama “Heaven is for Real” debuted in third place over Easter weekend with $21.5 million.
“Transcendence,” a sci-fi thriller starring Johnny Depp, was fourth with $11.2 million.
