Captain (retd.) Safdar, the husband of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, made claims regarding the alleged involvement of the Pakistan military in political affairs.
In a detailed account video circulating on social media, Safdar alleged that representatives from the Pakistan military had travelled to London to implore Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister, to return to Pakistan. According to Safdar, they expressed concerns that Imran Khan was detrimental to the country’s stability.
Safdar further claimed that these military forces orchestrated a plan to prevent Nawaz Sharif from securing a fourth term as Prime Minister. He detailed that at 5 PM on an unspecified date, it was publicly declared that Nawaz Sharif had lost the election in Mansehra, a statement he suggests was influenced by military planning.
Continuing his narrative, Captain Safdar emphasized that the military had explicitly requested Nawaz Sharif’s leadership to steer the government away from crisis. He also strongly opposed legal actions against former military leaders, specifically mentioning General Bajwa. Safdar asserted that for Pakistan to progress, General Bajwa must face charges under Article 6 for allegedly conspiring against an elected government, highlighting a deep rift between political figures and military leadership in Pakistan.
