Donna Jean Wilde, a 58-year-old Canadian, broke the world record for the longest abdominal plank position by a woman, as confirmed by Guinness. The retired educator maintained the plank for over four and a half hours, surpassing the prior record by 10 minutes.
The record was previously held by Dana Glowacka in 2019. To achieve this feat, Guinness stipulated that Wilde must maintain her forearms and toes in contact with the ground while keeping her body elevated and straight.
Motivated by her 12 grandchildren, Wilde tackled this challenge despite chronic pain from a past wrist injury. She trained extensively, even planking for up to six hours daily. “It feels like a dream,” Wilde remarked on her achievement. She encourages others to persist and practice, suggesting they plank even during routine activities like reading or computer work.
