Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, celebrate Eidul Adha today, Sunday. Simultaneously, the Bohra community around the globe, notably in Pakistan and India, is observing this sacred day.
In Karachi, a large congregation of the Bohra community gathered at the Taheri Mosque for Eid prayers. Sindh police ensured the safety and security of the attendees during the celebrations.
Following the prayers, preparations for the sacrificial rites commenced. Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. This profound act of devotion is remembered through the ritual slaughter of animals, a practice that continues over the three days of Eid. Traditionally, the meat from these sacrifices is shared among family members and distributed to the less fortunate.
While Eidul Adha is being observed in the Gulf today, the celebration will commence tomorrow in Pakistan, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and various parts of Europe.
