Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stated that Pakistan is facing a “perfect storm” due to the country’s deepening political, economic, and security crises.
Bilawal stated on The Daily Show, “Unfortunately, Pakistan is facing a perfect storm. We have not only exacerbated partisanship and political polarization to the point where parties or political stakeholders cannot even sit in a room together to discuss issues, but we are also experiencing an economic crisis. “
After the fall of the Afghan government, the country faces security threats and crises, as well as a rise in terrorist attacks and the worst climate disaster in recorded history, he said.
In response to a question about the ongoing unrest in Pakistan over the impending arrest of the Justice Movement for Pakistan Imran Khan, the minister stated that the PTI leader believes the law does not apply to him.

“He quit parliament and fled the system. In this case, it is not about me arresting Mr. Khan […] In the case of Mr. Khan, he was facing arrest because of his ego,” the minister said, adding that former prime minister Khan was deemed “too important” to appear in court.
Foreign Minister Bilawal called Khan’s decision a “total mockery of Pakistan’s legal system, the rule of law and constitution.”
When asked if democracy in Pakistan was fragile, the politician responded, “Absolutely.” Pakistan has been under direct military dictatorship for most of our history.”
Bilawal stated that forces profiting from “undemocratic rule in Pakistan” did not like the party coming together following the death of his mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. “That is why they supported Mr. Khan and put him in power.” Now, not only is it exaggerated in front of these individuals, but it also has grave consequences for our nation,” he said.
