Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) shared a report from a district, and sessions judge about his Attock jail inspection, which unveiled a CCTV camera right outside the cell of former premier Imran Khan, violating his privacy. The inspection on Aug 15, highlighted that the camera setup invaded the privacy of the former premier and PTI chairman, especially during personal activities. The report from Additional District & Sessions Judge Shafqutullah Khan, further detailed that Khan lamented the restricted access granted to his wife and attorneys during their visits.
PTI Core Committee’s Response
The PTI Core Committee denounced the jail authorities for their “inhuman and vindictive actions” against the PTI chairman, now supported by the judge’s report. They emphasized the consistent mistreatment of Khan and cited the confirmed reports from AD&SJ. Despite the adversities, the committee highlighted Khan’s unwavering spirit. They also criticized the “illegal arrest” of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed President Dr Arif Alvi’s tweet regarding certain amendments. The committee rejected the formation of a special court to hear cases under the Official Secrets Act and expressed concerns over the legality of specific legislative actions without the president’s approval.
Upcoming Judicial Actions
The PTI Core Committee is set to approach the Supreme Court to address serious constitutional issues and intends to form a high-powered judicial commission for deeper investigations. They also discussed the upcoming hearings related to Khan’s sentence in the Toshakhana case and his appeal scheduled in the Islamabad High Court.
