The Lahore High Court’s Election Tribunal has set a date to hear a challenge to Ata Ullah Tarar’s (PML-N) election victory in the NA-127 Lahore constituency. The case, filed by Malik Zaheer Abbas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), questions the legitimacy of the election results.
Justice Anwar Hussain, who is presiding over the tribunal, is scheduled to conduct the hearing on July 22nd. The petition centres around discrepancies alleged by Malik Zaheer Abbas regarding Form 45, a critical document detailing the polling station’s results.
According to Abbas, the results recorded on Form 45 indicate that Ata Ullah Tarar lost the election. He further asserts that the Election Commission failed to officially release the results in alignment with what was documented on Form 45, thus casting doubts on the integrity of the election process in that constituency.
The upcoming hearing is set to explore these allegations in detail, potentially impacting the political landscape in Lahore by challenging the declared outcome and scrutinizing the procedures followed by the Election Commission during the tallying and announcement of results.
