Investigations into letters containing a suspicious powder sent to Islamabad High Court judges have made significant progress. Authorities have confirmed the powder includes arsenic.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) revealed that forensic tests on the powder indicated arsenic presence, causing concern due to its high toxicity.
Forensic analysis determined the powder’s arsenic concentration at 15%, highlighting the danger it poses, especially to the nervous system.
The CTD plans to present this crucial finding to the Supreme Court soon.
Investigators have also secured CCTV footage from a post office in Satellite Town, showing potential suspects. Efforts are underway, with NADRA’s help, to identify these individuals. Based on this footage, the CTD is probing suspects.
The situation grew tense as eight judges, including Chief Justices Qazi Faez Isa and Aamir Farooq, received these threatening letters. Four Lahore High Court judges reported similar incidents, raising security concerns for judicial figures.
This led to the CTD registering cases to ensure the judiciary’s protection.
