A low rank army personnel imposter who tried to pass himself off as an Pakistan Army captain and delivered lectures and collected donations for IDPs at the Forman Christian College’s Character Building Clubin Lahore has been formally arrested.
According to an official of ISPR, a man named Sajjad claimed to be a captain of Pakistan Army and delivered a lecture at the FCCU Character Building Club on February 17. The official said that the man also collected money claiming that the funds would go to charity for internally displaced people (IDPs).
The official said that after getting the information of the incident, the man was tracked down by the security agencies and arrested on February 23. The culprit would be charged under the Manual of Pakistan Military Law (MPML), he said.
The official said that institutions should be careful and contact ISPR before entertaining any individual. Army officers were not allowed to deliver lectures without permission and no officer was allowed to raise money.
In a Facebook post, the FCCU Character Building Club wrote, “We sincerely apologise on behalf of Character Building Club for the misunderstanding from our side, in not recognising a fake army person, who came to FC College.
Thinking of all this we informed this happening to army. Now he has been arrested and investigation is in progress to find people affiliated with him.”
