Apple TV+ has released the official trailer of ‘Emancipation’ starring Will Smith, who is all set to return to screens after the Oscars saga.
Emancipation will premiere in limited theatres on December 2, 2022. However, Emancipation will be available on Apple TV+ on December 9.
Emancipation has already been screened for various groups such as the Congressional Black Caucus, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, the National Council of Negro Women, the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, and Power Rising.
Emancipation is based on the real-life story of Peter, who was enslaved and ran away from his plantation in search of his family.
Peter later joined the Union Army. During his medical test, the unusual scars on his bareback were observed; a photo of his back was published in The Independent under the name “the scourged back.”
The image displayed the cruelty of slavery in The United States. Along with Smith, there are other members also included in the film.
The cast of Emancipation includes Ben Foster, Steven Ogg, Charmaine Bingwa, Gilbert Owuo, Mustafa Shakir and Grant Harvey.
