Amir Tanba, previously implicated in the 2013 attack on convicted Indian spy Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat Jail, was shot dead at his residence in Islam Pura Ganga Street, Lahore.
Tanba was urgently transported to the hospital in critical condition following the assault, where he later died due to his injuries.
The incident unfolded when unidentified assailants forcibly entered Tanba’s home and opened fire. Following the attack, local police sealed off the vicinity and initiated a comprehensive search for the perpetrators. A formal case has been lodged on behalf of Amir’s brother, detailing that Tanba suffered three gunshot wounds inflicted by two assailants on a motorcycle, one of whom was masked and the other helmeted.
Tanba’s family disclosed that he had been the recipient of numerous threats over a prolonged period. In 2013, Tanba, alongside other inmates, had assaulted Sarabjit Singh, who was serving a sentence for his involvement in bombings in Lahore and Faisalabad that resulted in multiple fatalities.
Singh succumbed to his injuries sustained during the attack. Although a legal case was pursued against Tanba and another inmate, Mudassir, both were ultimately acquitted by the Sessions Court.
