World silver welterweight champion and Olympic silver-medalist Amir Khan met the nation’s favorite all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Monday.
Amir Khan landed in Karachi on Monday after visiting Lahore. The boxer met the cricketer and took to Twitter to share their interaction.
After their meeting, Afridi tweeted, “I’m ready for a new career. My right hook is deadly..just ask @AmirKingKhan. It was good meeting him today.”
Last week, Amir inaugurated a boxing academy at the Pakistan Sports Complex.
The ‘Amir Khan Boxing Academy’ was launched in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to train young pugilists. Amir and PSB DG Akhtar Ganjera signed an agreement at Rodham Hall. Under the agreement, Amir will provide coaches and equipment for the academy, while the PSB will support its functioning.
“I really believe we can make several champions in this sport,” said the British boxer of Pakistani origin.
Afridi, who captains the Twenty20 side of Pakistan, is affectionately known as ‘Boom Boom’ after his smashing sixes and has been a fan-favorite for decades. Despite being unpredictable with the bat, the flamboyant player is regarded as the messiah Pakistan loves to turn to during troubled situations in matches.
