The ‘sine qua non’ of National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) stands between Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader, Altaf Hussain, and his renewed green passport, the Interior Ministry informed the media.
The ministry, in its official response to Foreign Office regarding Hussain’s passport application, also said the MQM leader would have to appear at Pakistani High Commission (London) in person so that his biometrics and digital pictures could be recorded for processing a NICOP.
It further said that National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) London office could process his passport and Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) once Hussain’s NICOP was ready.
Last week, the MQM’s self-exiled leader, who is based in London, said he could return to Pakistan anytime soon.
