The regional Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Justice Retired Abdul Rashid Sulehria, announced the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) that local government (LG) elections in 3 different phases.
In a statement, AJK CEC Abdul Rashid Sulehria confirmed that LG polls could not be conducted on a single day across the region due to the non-availability of security forces to maintain law and order.
While addressing a press conference, Sulehria said that the AJK LG elections would be in phases. He said that the region’s election commission is receiving maximum assistance from the government.
The Muzaffarabad division will be on November 27, the 2nd phase will be on December 3 and 3rd in Poonch Division and in the Mirpur division will be on December 8.
The AJK CEC ensured transparency in the upcoming polls and said that the government is providing maximum support to complete the arrangements for the upcoming polls.
