For the first time in Pakistan, a passenger aircraft, Airbus A310, is transported by road from Karachi to Hyderabad using specialized transportation equipment.
The process began at Karachi Airport, where the aircraft was meticulously loaded onto a large container tailored for such operations. The aircraft was then secured on specialized trucks and trailers for its journey on the motorway. Onlookers at the toll plaza were taken aback by the sight of the massive passenger plane travelling along the road, prompting many to stop and take selfies with the unusual spectacle.
The entire transfer is being carried out by strict standard operating procedures, with the motorway police notified well in advance to ensure all safety measures are adhered to. The aircraft is being moved at a significantly reduced speed to ensure the safety of the transport team and other road users.
Upon reaching its destination in Hyderabad, the aircraft will be stationed at the Civil Aviation Training Institute. There, it will serve an educational purpose, aiding the training of aviation professionals.
This event marks a significant moment not only in Pakistan’s aviation history but also highlights the capabilities of Pakistani logistics. It recalls similar feats where large aircraft were transported by road in Saudi Arabia with the assistance of Pakistani truck drivers.
