As per the instruction of the apex court, AIG Shahid Hayat presented the police report on Karachi and briefed the bench that 175 challans have been presented in the anti-terrorism court.
The arrested have been accused of, target killing, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and other heinous crimes. AIG further added that more than 7,000 cases are currently being heard at various session courts.
Justice Khilji Arif remarked that more than 10,000 accused were arrested and only 175 challans were submitted in the court. AIG said that it is impossible to curb crimes without awarding punishment to the accused.
