Afridi’s Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) has pledged Rs5 million to aid earthquake survivors. This contribution aligns with SAF’s history of supporting those affected by disasters and improving education and healthcare.
The recent 7.5 magnitude earthquake impacted northern Afghanistan and Pakistan, resulting in 231 confirmed deaths. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province reported 185 fatalities and over 1,400 injuries.
Pakistan’s cricket team, led by Captain Misbah-ul-Haq, expressed deep concern for the earthquake victims. The team, refraining from celebrating their recent win against England, has committed to joining the relief efforts.
Intikhab Alam, the team’s manager, described the players’ shock upon hearing the news. Misbah conveyed heartfelt condolences to the affected families and emphasized the team’s commitment to relief work.
The disaster’s impact is most severe in remote, mountainous regions, with damaged infrastructure complicating rescue and assessment efforts.
Senior batsman Younis Khan, deeply affected by the tragedy, pledged to participate in relief activities upon returning home, especially in his native Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
