According to the Financial Times, Adidas has Yeezy sneakers worth over €500 million ($530 million) after severing ties with Kanye West.
According to the article, the German sportswear company is attempting to sell the items under its name to reduce potential losses.
In October 2022, the Adidas-Yeezy alliance abruptly ended when the rapper made antisemitic remarks on Twitter. As a result, Adidas stated that its profits would be reduced by $247 million.
Balenciaga, Gap, and Footlocker, among others, removed Yeezy goods from their stores due to West’s comments.
Adidas confirmed last month that it was investigating West, also known as Ye after a Rolling Stone article claimed he had behaved inappropriately around Yeezy personnel.
According to interviews with more than two dozen former Yeezy and Adidas employees, West allegedly showed staffers obscene photos of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian at a meeting.
In the Rolling Stone article, a former Yeezy employee said that she witnessed Ye telling a young woman of color to sit on the floor during an extended meeting. According to reports, he informed the designer that she did not “deserve to sit at the table.”
