Drishyam 2, starring Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan, grossed 65 crore INR in its first three days of release. The film is a remake of the same-titled Malayalam film.
Abhishek Pathak, the film’s director, discussed the path of his first feature film and the impact of Drishyam 2 on the Hindi-speaking public.
According to Hindustan Times, Abhishek attributed the success of Drishyam 2 to Ajay Devgan and stated that people associate the film more with Ajay Devgan than with Mohanlal.
He stated, “The Malayalam film was produced, but we purchased the rights to it before its release on OTT. We saw and enjoyed the film. By November 2020, we obtained the rights and commenced development.”
“Mohanlal sir is a renowned actor, but Hindi people associate Drishyam more with Vijay Salgaonkar and Ajay Devgn. So even though the Malayalam sequel was out, many people waited to watch the Hindi version before viewing it. Because they have so much in common with Ajay, sir.” Abhishek added.
