After pursuing his peers, a man from Virginia buys his first Powerball ticket and ends up winning a reward of $150,000.
Danny Johnson, from Hampton, shared with officials from the Virginia Lottery that he has always been cautious of lottery games and would tell his friends that playing them is a waste of both time and money.
Johnson stated that his friend began pressuring him to purchase a Powerball ticket as the jackpot reached unprecedented heights at the beginning of November. As a result, Johnson conceded and purchased a ticket for the drawing on November 5 through the lottery website.
After looking at the winning numbers, Johnson recalled that he thought a ticket. “Hey, I’ve got a few of those.” But, of course, I had no idea how much money I had because I had never played or won.’
The first-time player’s ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball in the drawing, earning him a prize of $50,000 that was doubled to $150,000 thanks to his selection of the Power Play option. The total amount he won was, therefore, $150,000.
Johnson stated that he has no immediate plans for his winnings; however, he is considering giving his friend who persuaded him to buy the ticket a gift that will take them by surprise.
