An intense fire broke out at the Portway Trade Centre building in Karachi near the Nursery stop on Sharah-e-Faisal.
According to the fire department, the Portway Trade Centre building contains multiple offices. The fire bridge officials, a billboard on top of the building, caught fire and was classified as a third-degree fire. Following that, the fire reportedly spread to the entire structure.
According to officials, a gas station next to the structure has also been shut down.
The lower levels of the building’s fire are no longer as actively burning. A snorkel puts out the raging fire on the top floors.
Water tankers from the NIPA and Safoora hydrants have reportedly been sent to the fire scene, according to the Karachi Water Board representatives. Initially, three fire department vehicles were dispatched to extinguish the fire. Due to the intensity of the fire, however, more firefighting engines and a snorkel were requested to assist with firefighting operations on the upper floors.
