Sindh Govt forms JITs to invistgate Amjad Sabri murder, Owais abduction

The Sindh government has formed two joint investigation teams (JITs) on the murder of famed qawwal Amjad Sabri as well as the kidnapping of the Sindh High Court chief justice’s son Owais Shah.

Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah in a notice issued earlier today constituted two JITs.

According to chief minister house spokesperson, JIT’s have been constituted after Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and police could not find possible leads to Sabri’s assassination and Owais Ali Shah’s abduction.

Representatives of intelligence agencies, Rangers and police would form the JITs and would help take forward the investigations into the two high-profile cases.

It has also been decided that inmates held in prisons would also be taken into the fold of the JIT investigation.

Anti-terrorism department has arrested a suspect from Surjani in connection with Amjad Sabri’s killing while recovering arms and ammunition. At least 20 suspects have also been arrested during search operations in different part of Karachi.

Advocate Owais Shah, son of the Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, has not been seen since June 20 when he was snatched from near a supermarket in Clifton.

The investigation into his kidnapping was in initial stages when unknown armed motorcyclists sprayed Sabri with bullets in the Liaquatabad area on June 22 when the 45-year-old was heading to a private TV channel to perform in its Ramazan transmission.
