The Christian community is celebrating Easter today (Sunday) with religious fervor and devotion.
In Pakistan Christian community holds prayers and special ceremonies to mark Easter, the culmination of the 40-day Lent, a time of fasting, giving alms, repenting and spiritual renewal.
President Mamnoon Hussain in his message to the Christian community celebrating Easter festival said “The Christians as well as all minorities of Pakistan are equal citizens of the state and entitled to equal rights,”
the President also vowed t to continue struggle for rights of all minorities and deprived people.
The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his message on the Easter festival said “My government is committed to safeguard the fundamental rights, safety, honour, life and property of all minority communities. I wish to uplift the welfare of all minorities and I am earnest in safeguarding their rights,” .
Security of churches has been beefed up across the country.
