The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is set to operationalize Mobile Registration Vehicle Centers by November. The BISP initiative specifically aims to aid potential beneficiaries in Pakistan’s remote regions, ensuring no deserving individual is left behind due to geographical constraints.

As reported by the state news agency, these unique Mobile Registration Centers will revolutionize access for deserving women in isolated areas. These mobile units are a leap forward in making registration facilities reachable, removing the hurdle of long-distance travel to fixed centres. According to BISP Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad, the initiative, which took off in August, is nearing completion with the induction of 25 specialized vans.

These vehicles are not just transport units but fully equipped registration centres for the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER). Particularly, they are set to change how social support is provided, extending the government’s welfare reach further than ever before.

Focused Deployment in Underserved Regions

Detailing the deployment strategy, the Secretary shared that most of these mobile units would serve Balochistan, with 19 vans dedicated to its remote areas. Additionally, five vans are slated for deployment in Sindh’s distant regions and one in Islamabad, ensuring a wide coverage.

With the anticipation building for the November launch, the BISP Secretary reiterated the program’s commitment to making the registration process seamless for beneficiaries residing in the nation’s most secluded areas.

Inclusivity: A New Chapter in Social Support

Significantly, the BISP’s approach to identifying and enrolling beneficiaries has progressed. For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the program includes people with special abilities and transgenders, reaffirming its dedication to inclusivity. This development not only broadens the spectrum of assistance provided but also marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s social welfare narrative.
