A rowdy crowd in Nankana Sahib, Punjab, burnt a man to death after dragging him outside a police station on blasphemy accusations.

Station House Officer (SHO) Warburton Feroze Bhatti and other police personnel fled the scene to save their own lives when a mob lynched a man imprisoned for supposed blasphemy.

Residents in the neighborhood asserted that the man had recently been released from a two-year prison sentence and had performed witchcraft by pasting images of his ex-wife on holy documents.

Inspector-General of Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar took note of the occurrence and suspended the SHO and Nankana Sahib Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaz Waraq for failing to prevent the situation from escalating into violence.

The Punjab police published a statement on Twitter declaring that individuals responsible for the event and those guilty of negligence would be subject to severe departmental and judicial punishment.

Later, when the incident at the Warburton police station occurred, the Prime Minister sought an investigation and questioned why the police did not disperse the unruly crowd.

It is essential to maintain the rule of law. He stated that no one should be able to influence the legislation.

He believed peace should always be the highest priority of institutions responsible for preserving order and peace.

In addition, Mohsin Naqvi, the interim chief minister of Punjab, sought an exhaustive probe of the occurrence in the IG’s report.

He issued the order that all lawbreakers shall face legal consequences.

In the meantime, the chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, has condemned the incident, calling the killing and burning of a blasphemy suspect a horrible act.
