Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) chief, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri has decided to end his protest ‘sit-in’ in Islamabad after more than two months.
The Shroud waving tele-evangelist turned populist demagogue said while addressing to his followers in islamabad on Tuesday, “Our protest movement has entered the “next phase”. Henceforth, we will stage sit-ins in every major city. I am ordering you to pack your things and start leaving here today. I want you to propagate the message of revolution to mobilize more and more support from your hometowns”,
Dr Qadri (actually) urged his supporters to leave their heads up as they were returning home triumphant.
Qadri further added .”Have heart as you are going back fully primed to blast off a nationwide struggle for the revolution we had long-marched for. This 67-day-old ordeal has toughened you into battle-hardened revolutionaries. May Allah be with you!”. the fire brand orator thundered.
“Do I look like someone who will sell his movement out? So rumours that I have signed a ‘deal’ with government are tantamount to trash”, Dr Qadri claimed in a bid to mollify his dismayed supporters.
He swore against receiving funds or diktats from the establishment (a euphemism for Pakistan’s powerful army.)
“I should be hanged by the neck if I’m ever found guilty of being in cahoots with the establishment”, the reformist cleric said while rejecting rivals’ claims that his anti-government campaign is bankrolled by the ‘mighty establishment’.
It should be pertinent to note that Qadri had specifically stated umpteen times that he will “not” vacate Islamabad till the government has been toppled and in this regard had, time and again brandished a “Kaffan” (Burial Shroud)
