Over 14 people are reported killed and many others buried under snow as an avalanche struck 25 houses in a village in Chitral..
The incident occurred in Sher Shal village in Garam Chashma tehsil of Chitral.
Commandant Chitral Scouts Nizam ud Din while talking to local news channel ‘Geo News’ said, “unconfirmed reports at least five houses were destroyed and rescue teams have been dispatched to the area.”14 bodies have been retrieved and many more people are feared buried under snow,”
According to Chitral District Administration rescue operation is in progress to recover the people trapped under the debris and 12 bodies have been recovered. Seven injured have been rescued and shifted to civil hospital Garam Chashma.
In another incident, an avalanche hit a check post of Chital Scouts in Arandogol area. 11 people have been rescued from the avalanche-hit village but the injured have not been treated as there’s no dispensary here and Chitral is far away.
