The number of dengue fever patients in Punjab has reached 1100 this year, officials said earlier today, with 900 patients reported only in Rawalpindi.

The second-highest number of patients was reported in Multan, where 55 people have been affected by the dengue virus. 12 cases have been reported in Lahore.

The health department says that the danger of dengue fever outbreak will continue during the month of November, but the number of cases will start to decrease with the fall of the winter season.

The provincial government says it is taking measures on a war-footing to fight the outbreak of dengue fever and eradicate the virus throughout Punjab.

Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal chaired a meeting today to review the situation in Rawalpindi, Multan and other parts of the country. The chief secretary ordered officials to take every measure possible to control the situation.
