The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Sunday night announced shutter down strike on Monday over extrajudicial killing of a party worker, Mohammad Hashim’s.
The MQM Rabita (Coordination) Committee member Abdul Haseeb in a press conference at nine zero said “We appeal to the trade, transporter, and schools associations to answers the MQM’s call positively,”
According to Haseeb, the deceased was an MQM worker from Liaquatabad sector 164.
“Hashim was on his way home when he was taken away (by the agencies) on the night of May 6, 2015. Today it transpired that he has been tortured to death in the custody., which is outrageously condemnable,” the MQM leader said.
The MQM, often accused by its critics of using extortion and murder to cement its power in Karachi, has complained its workers have been unfairly targeted by security forces in a bid to curb its power.
