Hanging of convicted terrorist, Ikram-ul-Haq alias Akram Lahori, has been delayed after the victim’s family pardoned the convict minutes before his execution in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Lahori was scheduled to be hanged at 6am today; however, his family members rushed to the jail to stay the execution by striking an agreement with the grieved party.
Lahori’s lawyer, Advocate Ghulam Mustafa said the victims finally pardoned Haq before the magistrate and requested him to stay the hanging.
Lahori was put on death row for involvement in sectarian killings including an Iranian diplomat Sadiq Gunji and Imtiaz Haider, brother of former interior Minister Moinuddin Haider. Also, as many as 30 other cases of murder were registered against him.
It should be noted that he is the co-founder of “Laskhar-e-Jhangvi” the most virulent sectarian terror outfit in the country that has taken direct responsibility for thousands of terror attacks.
