Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hopes to finalize an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) within the coming weeks.
In a recent interview with “Anadolu,” Sharif anticipates the ninth review by the IMF to satisfy all requisite terms and conditions, fostering optimism for encouraging developments within the month. He stated that Pakistan has conscientiously fulfilled all prerequisites set by the IMF.
When asked about potential plans should the IMF negotiations fail, Sharif underscored the enduring strength and resolve of the Pakistani people. He was confident in the nation’s ability to confront challenges head-on, stating that they have faced trials before and, if required, they will tighten their belts and emerge stronger. He further affirmed that his administration has effectively addressed issues with the assistance of the Pakistani populace and supportive allies.
Speaking on the bond between Pakistan and Turkey, the Prime Minister likened the relationship to “one soul, two hearts that beat in unison.”
Sharif congratulated the Turkish people on President Erdogan’s reelection, deeming it a “remarkable progression.”
Looking ahead, he expressed plans for Pakistan and Turkey to escalate their cooperation to stimulate trade and mutual development. Key areas of focus will include biogas, solar energy, and hydropower.
