Fire broke out in Commerce Center located on Karachi’s busy I.I Chundrigar Road earlier today, but the fire brigade managed to extinguish the blaze after hectic efforts.
According to rescue officials, the third story of the Commerce Center caught fire and engulfed the two upper floors within minutes, trapping many people inside the building that also houses several offices.
Fire fighters with four fire tenders reached the site to douse the flames. A snorkel was also called for the firefighting operation.
Many people made it to rooftop of the building and dozens were rescued by fire fighters, with no casualty so far reported.
Fire brigade officials brought the flames under control after nearly two hours. As yet the reason behind the incident could not be ascertained.
