A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) district vice president Bao Muhammad Anwar.
The unidentified woman was arrested from Lahore after her number was retrieved from Anwar’s cellular records.
Anwar was shot dead late on Tuesday in Sialkot by three unidentified men on motorcycles. A post-mortem report revealed that he was shot at least 13 times, sustaining wounds in his neck and stomach.
Following Anwar’s death, MQM chief Altaf Hussain, suspended the Rabita committees in Karachi and London due to the nonchalant reaction of the committees’ members to the attack.
“The Rabita committee did not react at all to the slaying of an MQM worker in Sialkot. So now, they can go home and continue to sleep,” Altaf had said.
The MQM chief had also questioned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in regard to why the culprits had not been arrested.
