Two police officers were killed and one injured in a suspected target killing incident near the Dhoraji area here late Saturday night.
According to police, a police vehicle was attacked near Dhoraji area, resulting Assistant Sub-Inspector Iftikhar and Head Constable Younus died on the spot, while another official was injured. All three officers sustained bullet wounds to their torsos.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Faisal Abdullah suspects a target killing and said “It looks like a target killing incident for now,”
The SSP mentioned that 12 shells of 9mm and .30 bore pistols were recovered from the site and that an investigation is underway with the help of CCTV footage.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Head, Raja Umar Khattab added that the site of attack was the police van’s regular spot and the attackers made use of nighttime to escape.
Karachi police chief Mushtaq Mehar, consequently, announced a Rs2.5 million reward for anyone who comes forward with information on the suspects’ identification.
