Dubai: Two Pakistanis were arrested for transporting 692 capsules of heroin weighing more than 5kg from Al Ain to Dubai, a court was told, Emirate media reported today.
AM, 32, and FR, 30, were arrested after anti-narcotics agents were tipped off that AM was in possession of drugs with the intent to distribute in December last year, prosecutors said.
“We stopped the car and identified ourselves and asked them if they had drugs,” police officer KK, 24, told Dubai Criminal Court.
AM told the officer he had drugs under the driver’s seat and that he also had more at his home.
“I receive drug mules from Pakistan who hide capsules in their stomach, they give it to me and I keep it until I receive orders from a man from Pakistan to deliver them to people,” AM told prosecutors.
FR said that he knew about the drugs and his role was to assist AM in distributing them.
At Dubai Criminal Court today, the Pakistanis denied charges of possession of drugs with the intent to use.
The case was adjourned until June 6.
