The suspected suicide bomber of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine blast has been identified.
Inspector General Sindh Police A.D. Khwaja while speaking to media, claimed that with the help of CCTV footage the bomber has been identified and the bomber’s identification would help police track the mastermind of the attack.
A.D. Khwaja also showed, CCTV footage to the media showing the suspected bomber entering the shrine. “We are almost sure that the man spotted in the footage is a suicide bomber,” said Khwaja.
He said other security agencies were also assisting in the probe of Sehwan shrine attack and helping smooth continuation of the investigation.
A suicide bomber attacked a crowded Sufi shrine in Sehwan Sharif on Thursday, killing at least 80 people and wounding dozens more in the deadliest of a wave of bombings across the country this week.
The violence has shattered a period of improving security, underscoring how militants still undermine stability in the country.
The high death toll at the shrine makes it one of the worst attacks in Pakistan in recent years.
In August last year, at least 74 people, mostly lawyers, were killed in a suicide bombing of a hospital in the southwestern city of Quetta.
