Unidentified gunmen earlier today shot dead police sub-inspector Ishtiaque Awan, four days after he testified against Tahir Minhas, the alleged mastermind of the Safoora bus attack, in a separate murder case.
According to police, gunmen riding on motorcycles targeted Awan in the Mumtaz Colony locality of Hyderabad’s Makki Shah area when the sub-inspector was leaving his residence for police duty today. Awan was shot seven times in the chest, stomach and other parts of the body and died on the spot.
Police said that Awan was the investigating officer and a witness in the murder case of Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar who was also killed in Hyderabad.
Awan had testified in court against Tahir Minhas, Azeem Shaikh and Farhan Shaikh four days ago.
Tahir Minhas is the alleged mastermind of the gruesome terrorist attack on a bus in Karachi’s Safoora Chowrangi area which claimed 46 lives and is currently under arrest along with his accomplices.
